* Light Duty Rating - Utilizing only the 4 radius rod bolts to mount a hitch on the RZR limits any hitch to a light-duty rating simply due to the limitations of the radius rod bolts and the RZR frame strength where they are mounted. We do NOT recommend any brand of light-duty, 4-bolt radius rod mounted hitches for moving heavier, twin-axle trailers or loaded trailers, for off-road recovery or for any other heavy-duty uses. During recovery you may exceed the radius rod bolt & frame strength and it is also common to exert side-loads on the RZR hitch (whether pulling or being pulled), which can damage the radius rod bolts & frame. For these circumstances, the Thunderhawk Heavy-Duty Double-Shear Hitches are far superior, due to their exclusive direct-frame mounting, double-shear design.
This Thunderhawk rear receiver hitch features a differential /gearcase fluid service access hole so that you can easily check and top-off differential / gearcase fluid without having to remove the hitch. We have also designed the hitch plate with the proper bends to match the offset of the RZR frame where the radius rods are mounted (this is where flat-plate hitches cause frame damage and radius rod bolt failure when the radius rod bolts are tightened). In addition, the Thunderhawk hitch plate is cut to allow the factory tow point to still be accessible. Thunderhawk hitches feature a durable black powdercoat finish and are constructed using an automotive-grade, reinforced receiver tube for strength, durability and proper fitment with your towing accessories. Thunderhawk Performance receiver hitches accept standard 2" automotive receiver hitch components. 2" receiver hitches are commonly used on most pick-up trucks. Many people already own these hitch bars and components, but these parts are also readily available at any large discount store or auto parts chain.
Hitch Fitment (with rear bumpers) - Rear bumpers can create issues with any rear hitch. This is prmarily due to the receiver tube interfering with a brace or cross-tube on the rear bumper.
- No bumper - No problem!
- If you have a frame-mount rear bumper that does not have any parts covering the area where this hitch is installed - No problem!
- If you have a Polaris rear bumper, you may have interference between the hitch receiver tube and the bumper cross-bracing - Check carefully, or contact us with bumper part number before ordering.
- If you have an aftermarket frame-mount bumper (see photo to identify frame-mount location), and your bumper has a cross-tube down low - Check carefully, or contact us with photos before ordering.
- If you have a bumper with a large plate that covers the whole rear area (where a receiver hitch tube is located), then you're out-of- luck. These bumpers that have a lower mount that uses a four-bolt plate to replace the factory radius rod plate will not allow any hitch to be installed (you probably also want to get rid of that bumper before you hit something and damage your rear suspension).
