STRONG, DOUBLE-SHEAR UPGRADE
Thunderhawk's patent-pending double-shear radius rod design upgrades the stock RZR from a weak single-shear radius rod mount to a much stronger double-shear design. This Thunderhawk double-shear radius rod plate replaces the original 4-hole stiffener plate and features additional frame mounting points (at both the top and bottom) to securely mount the Thunderhawk double-shear plate directly to the frame. Thunderhawk's double-shear upgrade creates a second frame mount for the radius rods which is securely attached directly to the frame to support the rear of the radius rods. With the radius rods now supported on both the front (through the stock frame) and the rear (through the Thunderhawk double-shear plate), we have doubled the shear strength of the radius rod bolts and eliminated shear load deflection (flex) of the radius rod bolts. This eliminates the problem of deforming, elongating (egging-out) & cracking around the radius rod mounting holes in the RZR frame.
FORMED PLATE FOR LONG-TERM RELIABILITY
Thunderhawk double-shear plates are formed to match the radius rod mounting offset of the RZR frame. Thunderhawk formed plates eliminate bolt-face angularity issues. In simple terms, bolt-face angularity happens when the bolt head (and nut face) is angled with the plate prior to tightening, which causes the bolt to deform when tightened, severely weakening the bolt and leading to failure. Thunderhawk Performance designs every double-shear plate to match the original dimensions for a perfect fit and to ensure strength & reliability.
EASY SERVICE & DURABILITY
A large access hole allows quick & easy service of transmission/diff fluid. The factory tow point is readily accessible, and a durable black powdercoat finish stands up to rough, off-road use. Please Note: Some photos of installed parts are white or red for photo clarity, all double-shear plates shipped out are powdercoated black.

RADIUS RODS
- Fits with stock, and most aftermarket radius rods -
The Thunderhawk Double-Shear Upgrade Kit feature direct frame mounting, so fitment of these parts is affected by the width of the radius rods (where the bolt passes through at the frame end). Polaris has used two different styles of factory-installed radius rods - standard, straight radius rods (1 3/8" width) and High-Clearance radius rods with spacers (1 3/4" total width). - Stock Radius Rods - Thunderhawk Performance makes Double-Shear Upgrade Kits to fit most factory-installed radius rods.
- Aftermarket Radius Rods - There are dozens of aftermarket radius rods which may be 1 3/8" wide, 1 3/4" wide or some other odd-ball dimension. To assure that you receive the correct kit for any RZR that is equipped with aftermarket radius rods, you MUST verify the measurement of your radius rods before ordering (see photos above).
