EASILY UPGRADE YOUR CHARGING SYSTEM
Thunderhawk's Over-Size Battery Mount Kit bolts in the stock battery location, and includes a new battery hold-down strap to assure that the battery is properly secured. Isolation pads are installed (just like the factory uses) to protect your new battery from vibration. This kit is powdercoated black to resist rust and corrosion (silver shown for photo clarity).
WHY UPGRADE ?
The small factory-installed battery requires frequent maintenance and has been known to fail unexpectedly. A larger, high-capacity battery is required when running winches. lights, stereos, or other common accessories, and is a great addition even on a stock Mule when it's time to replace the original battery.
BATTERY RECOMMENDATIONS
The most popular battery choice when upgrading the Mule is to install a common lawn-mower battery. These are available at any local auto parts store at a reasonable cost in both standard and high-capacity configurations. If you want to spend more money on a high-end battery, the Thunderhawk battery mount kit will also fit the Odyssey 925 battery. We've had great luck just using a good, name-brand lawn-mower battery.
WHY CHOOSE THUNDERHAWK PERFORMANCE ?
The stock battery tray is smaller than a new larger battery. If a larger battery is installed on this small, factory mount, the new battery hangs over the edge and the plastic battery case ends up deforming or cracking at this point. So, your new larger battery fails from internal damage, or it may crack and leak acid. Either way, you need another new battery, and hopefully you were not stranded somewhere away from the garage/shop/barn. SPECIAL FITMENT NOTES
The photos showing the Battery Mount Kit installed on the Mule have the Mule's side panel removed (sO that the battery & mounting kit are visible). This side panel is re-installed after installing the Battery Mount and battery. Everything fits behind this stock side panel for a "factory" appearance.
