All Thunderhawk receiver hitches are designed for long-term durability, featuring heavy-duty designs and construction. Whether you are moving a trailer, mounting an accessory using a 2" receiver mount or using the hitch for recovery or as a tie-down point, a Thunderhawk hitch will perform. Thunderhawk Performance has designed two different hitches to fit the 2014 & newer Polaris RZR XP 1000 and RZR XP Turbo models, as well as the 2015 & newer RZR 900 and RZR 1000-S models.
The PZ2507 hitch is designed for the 2014 XP 1000 and XP-4 1000 models, and uses a main hitch plate that is formed to pass between the bumper mounting tabs and mount directly to the frame at the top. This mounting plate design is integrated with the receiver tube in a way that strengthens the mounting plate and resists bending and deflection of the hitch under load, while still allowing access to the bumper mounting tabs behind the grille. The bottom of this front receiver hitch is bolted directly to the frame, behind the front bumper plastic.
In 2015, Polaris changed the the front suspension mount bracket on the front of the frame (where the bumper mounting tabs are located). This required a new upper hitch mount design. The PZ2508 hitch fits 2015 & newer RZR's, including the RZR 900 Trail, 900 XC, 900-S, 900-4, 1000-S, 1000-S4, XP 1000, XP-4 1000, XP Turbo and XP-4 Turbo. 2019 models will require minor trimming of the front bumper cover plastic for clearance around the hitch mounting plate. This hitch will NOT fit the RZR XP Turbo-S (72" wide model), as the frame is different on the XP Turbo-S. Thunderhawk Performance developed a new, multi-piece upper hitch mounting system for the PZ2508 that utilizes a gusseted brace to tie the main hitch plate and the updated front suspension mount bracket back to the main frame rails, to pick-up the same frame mounting points as used on the 2014 models. This gusseted upper hitch mounting brace (included in the PZ2508 kit for 2015 & newer RZR's) also functions as a bumper brace and strengthens the bumper mounting tabs by tying them directly to the frame to strengthen the bumper mounts and resist bending. The bottom of this front receiver hitch is bolted directly to the frame, behind the front bumper plastic.
These Thunderhawk front 2" receiver hitches both feature 3/16" & 1/4" steel construction throughout, and are mounted directly to the frame for unsurpassed strength. Thunderhawk receiver hitches also feature an automotive-grade, reinforced receiver tubes for strength, durability and proper fitment with your towing accessories. These front receiver hitches install easily in about 45 minutes using common hand tools. These are complete kits; including the receiver hitch assembly, upper mounting braces (PZ2508 for 2015 & newer models only), all necessary hardware and illustrated instructions. The price for the PZ2508 hitch for 2015 & newer models is higher than the PZ2507 hitch for the 2014 models, due to the additional upper hitch mounting brace that is included in the PZ2508 kit. However, this upper mounting brace serves the same function as Thunderhawk's PH7302 bumper brace, which eliminates the need to buy the PH7302 when adding a front bumper. These receiver hitches feature a durable black powdercoat finish and the mounting braces & hardware are zinc-plated to resist rust and stand up to rough off-road use. These front receiver hitches do NOT fit vehicles equipped with a winch, and fit only with some front bumpers (see notes below). The tongue weight rating for these hitches is 125 lbs, and these hitches are NOT designed for snow-plow mounting. As with all Thunderhawk Performance products, these hitches are proudly made in the USA.
This Thunderhawk Performance receiver hitch accepts standard 2" automotive receiver hitch components. 2" receiver hitches are commonly used on most pick-up trucks. Many people already own these hitch bars and components, but these parts are also readily available at any large discount store or auto parts chain.
If installing on a RZR with a front bumper installed, be sure to verify that the bumper tubes are at least 13" apart where the receiver tube will be positioned in order to allow for installation of a common hitch pin (this can be reduced to approx 10" between tubes if using a 3.5" long bolt).
